fault

what room does a cold/pure/unflinching risk evaluation have for "fault"?

thinking about this BL where the protagonist (normal guy) loves a "dangerous" genius...

normal guy is hurt bc of people targeting the genius, but sees it not as his fault (the genius saved him from worse harm!)

but the normal guy's mother warns him, being around the genius is dangerous

she does not have the same depth of love in her heart, but is she wrong?

and what distinguishes this from victim blaming? (but the genius is not only a victim)

or condemnation? dehumanization? demonization?

what are people willing to risk?
